He's the dissipated 16-year old second son of the Sultan of Doblian, therefore not in direct line to the throne. His father did not care for his habit of partying all the time and decided that he has a promising future in the Lunar military. He sent Hezbod to a relatively safe minor post out in the provinces to keep the rabble at bay and make a man out of him.
