Adventure Background

The man who supports the party, Lord Piero Morelli, heads one of the formerly leading noble families of Algheri. The Morelli family interests, land, and fortunes have diminished due to the conquest. Lord Morelli's main goal is for the party to enhance the stature of the Morelli family, the city of Algheri, etc. all at the expense of the conquerors. Each character will have a reason (or reasons) that Lord Morelli discreetly asked them to join his secret rebellion.

The first meeting of the rebel party is at the ruined Bal-tuth Temple north of Algheri. The temple is very remote and built on the edge of a mountain. The main purpose to meet is to introduce the members to each other and form operational teams for actions. Lord Morelli will assign safe houses, methods of support for each team, and communication methods between himself and the teams. After the preliminaries are over, Lord Morelli will discuss opportunities with each team and then depart. Lord Morelli has already implied he has something the team will be interested in.

Lore Morelli also wishes to evaluate the suitability of this temple as an operational base. The Bal-tuth temple has an unclear history, but the current understanding is that the tower of a local hero associated with an archaic form of Kalima. The temple built around the tower is supposedly collapsed, but recent observation has found this to be untrue. The local hunters in the area report that the area and especially the temple is haunted still. If the temple is suitable, Baron Morelli will arrange to have supplies brought here.

Adventure Outline

The party met the other conspirators at the temple. Marco Livorno acted a little oddly a couple times and attracted the attention of a party member and other member of the conspiracy.

The temple itself was not that interesting. On the main floor a large pit was dug into the floor and it had filled with rain water now a nasty green. The ceiling had partially collapse around the tower and that accounted for the rest of the rubble on the floor. The balcony in the temple allowed one to see the bas-relief on the inner wall depicting the life of Bal-tuth.

The other main event was the discovery of a tomb under the floor in the tower. A spirit with 15 Spirit talked to Simone and told him the tomb was of the Kalima Hero Bal-tuth. Simone fled at first, but returned and explored the tomb. The Pact with Spirit kept Simone from getting killed by the powerful spirit, but did not protect him when the silver coffin lid in the main room quickly slid off and the Lich inside sprung up to attack Simone. At this point he fled and the party ran into the ambush by the Potolla Kingdom forces, but were able to escape.
