Non-Player Characters in the Duke Gabba Campaign

Many of the NPCs are listed in the PC section, because they were suitable for selection as a PC. These PC/NPCs formed a pool of reserves for the characters to play if their character got knocked out of play or did not want to risk a given mission.

Live Ones

(At the beginning of the campaign)

Xeno "Mumbles"
Count Vetubræ's tutor from Laz and the tutor of his children. None were particularly dilligent students. Mubles is from Laz and he also tutored Nud the troll child. He now lives with Marcus near in the Barony of Lac May.

Tink Tink

While in Babel, he spends much time cruising women and talking with his best friend, Iphegina Blasio.

General Mantana
Orc General who actually led the Imperial Endless Sea Fleet, except in a couple situations. Organized and personally led the first twenty-three expeditions (up to the Summer Palace attack.) General Mantana personally killed the orc Emperor. Mantana and the cabal of the other orc Generals, executed Supreme Warlord Antalaha. He then married the orc Empress, fathered the child who is the new orc Emperor, and became the Regent of the (child) Emperor. He does not have a right arm; it was burned off by the sorcery of Mambata Drivadi, tusk rider leader of the Reborn Siban Empire. The Empress had Mantana recovered from the other dimension he was sent to. General Mantana now leads the Bodyguard of the (orc) Emperor.

He has been on several voyages across the Endless Sea on both human and orc ships, and knows the sea route from Orc Port to Kos. He has a ghoul familiar, named Yippe.

Emperor Mambata Drivadi

Imprisoned in the dungeons of Babel for 300 years with the rest of the leaders of the Siban Empire who surrendered to the Empire of Osir, and who were all later double-crossed by the Imperial Senate. Vengence was satisfied when the orc invasion reached Babel and they released all political prisoners, including the tusk riders. The tusk riders quickly took over Babel, then Siba, then the rest of the human empire. Vic Vega was imprisoned with these tusk riders and became a close personal friend of Mambata.

Mr. Aramba Heraklia
Tusk rider and member of the Cabal of Five Magi, magi who lived in the remote mountains of Southern Siba. When the tusk riders took over, Aramba (and many others) were invited to become important members of the Reborn Siban Empire. Aramba joined and became an associate of the Demolition Man. Aramba was worried that this new job would get him killed and he arranged with Vic to get transferred to the personal staff of Mambata. He is therefore indebted to Vic.

Mr. Mes Ghillaho
Tusk Rider "Ghost Buster" and Minister of Information. He works with the Zlato cult in preventing the spread of otherworld activity in the Reborn Siban Empire. Octavius was set up to become the Bishop of Kiklag, but became the Curate of the Bracers by the action of his brother, Septamus. Octavius has been fairly astute in his dealings with the Agents of the Bracers and in positioning them as the best of the best within Nisava.

Gaius escaped the destruction of the Corps when Fort Hazeva was destroyed, but was later killed by the Bloodsoaked Host of General Nossibe during the capture of Babel by the Orcs.

Flavius the Younger Herrenius
The late first son and a Captain in the Imperial Bodyguard. Friends with Claudius Vetubræ, for they grew up together and practiced arms against each other as children. Flavius perished in the fire of the Imperial Palace when the Siba Empire resurged.

Count Gaius Vetubræ, Dwarf Brother
The late father of two of the characters. Non-politically connected noble. Willing to spend a little money keeping his younger sons out of trouble. The Count was paritucularly ambitious and that wore off on his first son. His wife died while giving birth to Marcus, the third son, and the resulting depression as never really left the Count. For a long time the Count has helped the dwarves in innumerable ways. Killed by the tusk riders when he refused to become part of the Reborn Siban Empire.

Hananave Tianaro: Played as a PC once, NPC otherwise

During the entire time and since, he works for and worships the orc Empress. He reports to his controller once per day. As a child in the Chrysanthemum clan, Hananave physically dominated his peers and was selected for the Bodyguard of the Empress. He know little of the world outside of the orc lands, but has learned much in his travels with the party. Hananave does not fit the traditional mold of orc warriors because he has long been a member of the egalitarian Empress Bodyguard and Sorcery Sect. Hananave was killed by General Mantana for failing to competently performing his duty of following and protecting Duke Gabba.

Merchant Prince Lucius Blasio
Member of the Mirror Trade Cartel and current Merchant-Prince. Trades extensively with the Northern Barbarians and the Orcs. He used to be the second son and as a youth went on wild adventures. Since then Lucius has regretted leaving the path of adventure and now lives vicariously through his second son and his friends. His main income derives from the large share ownership of the Mirror Trade Cartel Fleet and insurance on the Imperial Highway. This insurance can also be interpreted as protection money, and he could be suspected of organized crime activities. Disappeared mysteriously.

Iphegina Blasio
Only daughter of Blasio the Trade, she is a nun/priestess of Regna. She has been a close friend of Claudius Vetubræ since childhood, but the two could never marry for she was promised to Regna before birth for favors granted to Lucius long ago; and Regna forbids nuns from ever marrying.
