Character Notes
1. Characters will start with 2000 experience (two levels of experience), but with only standard equipment. Extra HD to be rolled in front of GM at first session.
2. Hit dice are rolled in front of the GM. When ever a level is gained two dice instead of one is rolled and the best roll of the two is used.
3. Each character starts with 1 Cure Light Wounds Potion (1d8+4) and two Cure Minor Wounds Salve (1), value 10gp.
4. Characters with start with all six abilities at 10. 24 points are available to raise abilities up to 18 at a one for one increase. Ex. character with 2 x 10, 2 x 14 , and 2 x 18.
5. If a player wants a new character, that character will have experience equal to the highest experience possible for the level just below the highest current character. Example: all characters are 6th level (the level starts at 15,000XP), so the new character would start at 14,999. Starting money and equipment for a new character is equal to one-half of the character wealth per level for the level of the highest character in the party (see DM, p. 145, table 5-1). Example: 6th level characters have accumulated 13,000 gp through their careers, a new character would have 6500 gp to spend.
Campaign Notes
1. The Godfather wishes the party to increase their skills and stay alive. He may ask the party to do things for the family, but these requests are just that, not orders. Godfather's long-term goal is for the party to become very experienced so he can accomplish goals with trusted family members later. Godfather's instructions to the family members of the party now is "just stay alive and get better."
2. The Godfather will pay for any Raise Dead or similar simple healing spells. He will not pay for Ressurections (but he will front the cost if the character wants that.) Any equipment lost or destroyed will generally be replaced by the Godfather to a maximum of 5000gp per adventure. Replacement of used potions, scrolls, and such is not covered.
3. All upkeep costs are paid for by the family and each character will receive a 100 gp every month as a stipend, until they have five levels.
4. All treasure recovered will receive full value from the family in coin. Characters can purchase any item in the game at standard price, sometimes with a little delay for it to be made. The family will also assay and give a good exchange rate for the many strange types of gold coins the characters are likely to find.
5. Grebb, a 5th level Barbarian works as a bodyguard, animal handler, and porter master. He is uninterested in joining the party in dangerous situations and his orders are to protect the animals and hirelings and keep track of where the party is for the Godfather.
